I want to tell you what a nice young man the technician was that came to our house and replaced our springs. I think it was a quality job, however, after checking around I found I could have gotten the springs changed for less. Can you tell me why you were higher than some other companies I found on Craig's List.
Thank you for asking me this question. It is a good one. There are two kinds of springs available to garage service companies. One is cold rolled steel springs, that are contractor grade, and what most manufacturers supply with their new doors. Garage door manufacturers proudly manufacture their own quality panels, however they buy their hardware(springs, cables, rollers, etc.) from the cheapest vendor they can find to keep the cost of the doors down. These are usually cold rolled steel springs that do the job, but they don't have the same cycle life, and thus, don't last as long. A lot of service companies buy these springs. We beleive in only replacing parts with the best quality available so they will last longer for our customers. Therefore we use hot oil tempered springs which go through multiple "flash" dips to harden the steel, thus greatly extending service/cycle life.
